This year will be my 10th year teaching mathematics full time at Round Lake High School. I previously taught math at Brewster High School in 1980-81 and now have students who are children of my former students!

In between 1981 and when I began teaching in Round Lake, I was fortunate enough to be a stay-at-home mom with my three boys, Zach, Matthew & Tim. Those little boys are now grown. Zach is the IT and Audiovisual Manager for the Radisson Conference Center in Plymouth, MN. Matthew is newly married and going to school at Northwestern Health Science University in Bloomington, MN where he is studying to be a chiropractor. And my baby, Tim, turned 20 this past summer and is a junior at St. Cloud State University majoring in Marketing.

During the summers, my husband Bob and I love to travel. In fact I love researching our destinations and learning about new places almost as much as the actual trips! My students may be surprised to learn that when I travel I do things like snorkeling, scuba diving, zip lining, cave tubing, hiking through jungles, rappelling into underground rivers, etc.

This year students will see new textbooks in most of the math classes. With new math standards in place for the state of Minnesota, I feel these math books are a positive change for us. My classroom will also be testing some new technology this year as well. Students will be using the Senteo response system which are electronic “clickers” used to record student responses to questions viewed on the Smartboard. Although Round Lake is a small school we are big on technology!
