Art Fundamentals and Design Concepts

I am from the area growing up in Jackson , MN. I graduated JCC in 1996 when we were the Bluejays and not the Huskies. I played baseball , football and basketball. I was class artist and so when deciding what to do with my life out of high school, I went with what I was good at. I played baseball in college and decided to go into art teaching because I want to be able to help students create great artwork. I like the atmosphere of teaching being around such fresh and creative minds. I graduated Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2001. I subbed full time for a year in the Mankato area before before landing a teaching position in Melrose Area Schools up by St. Cloud, MN. There I gained valuable teaching experience and a crash course on what the world of education is all about. I took my experience and my son Gavin who is 3, a little closer to home when being hired here to teach at SCC and RLB. I split time from Okabena in the morning and then afternoons in Round Lake. I'm coaching football and baseball as well.
I look forward to meeting new people and spreading my art knowledge into the brains of the students. I want the students to really explore their talents and push themselves to the limits. Trying different media types like painting, drawing and airbrushing. Mural painting on the walls of the school and even fashion design is all open to artistic development in my class room. I'm sure you have all caught yourselves engaged in a house project or a book that you couldn't wait to get to, well that's how i want my students to feel.
I enjoy when i'm not teaching, playing baseball, playing with my little boy, watching movies, and visiting friends out of town.
I'm available whenever you need me. Just send me an e-mail and I will get back to you.
