Flexible Learning Year to Begin 2010-11
The Round Lake – Brewster Cooperated School Districts are
participating in a Flexible Learning Year Calendar along with 25
other southwest Minnesota school districts. This flexible learning
year calendar allows schools to increase time for instruction prior
to Minnesota’s required educational testing process to determine
educational progress of students, increase learning opportunities
for area high school students to take college level course work,
and finally, it would increase opportunities and enhance budgets
for staff development training for classroom teachers in the
area.
To make this work, all participating school districts have agreed
to develop school calendars with a minimum of 8 days in common.
Those days would involve the first day of school and several staff
development training days. All schools following this calendar will
start the 2010-2011 school year on August 23.
We look forward to the anticipated advantages of this calendar and
ask your cooperation as we explore this opportunity.
